ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

We acknowledge the bravery required by our participants, who so thoughtfully considered contentious and delicate subjects. The individuals who participated in our interviews shared personal and, at times, vulnerable accounts that involved navigating complex identities, migration experiences, and the impacts of relief and aid programs. We are grateful for their willingness to share expertise, experiences, and examples, as well as for the work they do to ensure the safety, dignity, and rights of LGBTIQ+ people worldwide. Our white paper also discusses the roles of LGBTQI+ Ukrainian soldiers in the military, whose resilience and dedication not only contribute to Ukraine's defense but also drive the nation and the world toward greater inclusivity and respect for human rights.

This research would not have been possible without generous funding and support from William & Mary’s Global Research Institute.

We are grateful to have shared initial findings with members of the U.S. State Department and appreciate their feedback and insights.

The Exodus Project sincerely thanks faculty sponsor Professor Reya Farber for continued guidance, expertise, and encouragement over the years.
